How To Gain Muscle

Are you tired of being skinny? Are you tired of everybody referring to you as “that skinny guy?” Are you ashamed of yourself when you look in the mirror?

I bet you all answered yes to these questions and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.  I know how you feel.

What do I mean by this? I mean that I was that Skinny Guy that everybody referred to. I was sick and tired of this so I had to make a change

I made an attempt in trying to gain muscle. I tried many different workouts that I got from bodybuilding magazines and that I got from YouTube but that didn’t seem to work at all. I was still weighing in at 145 pounds and on top of that I was 6 foot 2!!
IMAGINE THAT!!

So what changed this?
One day I went to my local gym in San Diego, California and while I was working out I noticed a guy there who was really ripped and had a big chest and broad shoulders. I couldn’t hold back so I asked him a simple question and that is, “Sir, How did you get so ripped?”  He stopped what he was doing and gave me a simple answer, “Hard Work and Dedication.” Well duh, Right?  I didn’t understand it at first but as I continued talking to him I understood the concept.
He told me that he used to be a skinny guy like me!! I didn’t believe him until he showed me pictures of when he was smaller. This guy was just like me in a sense but he was just ripped and I wasn’t. He told me a lot of valuable things that I want to share with all of you guys today and this has helped me build muscle tremendously!! I went from weighing 145 pounds to a whopping 195 pounds of muscle in just 4 months!

Here’s how I Did It:
First of all, the most important thing in trying to get ripped is to maintain a well balanced diet. This doesn’t mean only eating vegetables. Although vegetables are good for you, a diet full of protein, amino acids, and carbohydrates are generally the best things to consume when trying to build muscle. Try eating a lot of eggs, fish, and beef. All of these are a high source of protein and these foods contain amino acids which help build muscle.

Now let’s talk about carbohydrates. Carbohydrates will really help with building muscle mass. Some types of foods that contain carbohydrates are: honey, whole grains, yams, brown rice, etc.

When Should I Consume These?
I know that studies shown states that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that’s true, BUT not for working out and gaining muscle. The most important meal in this case is the post-workout meal. This is the meal after the workout. Whenever you have time to get a workout in, whether it’s in the morning or night, the meal after is important. This is important because after doing a very intense workout, your body needs to refuel itself and your muscles need food after it has been broken down.

What Kind Of Workouts Should I Do?
Okay now let’s get to the good stuff. The guy that I met at the gym gave me a great workout that I use still to this day. Here it is:
Dumbbell Flat Bench Press 10-12 reps x 5 Sets
Dumbbell Incline Bench Press 10-12 Reps x 5 Sets
Dumbbell Incline Fly’s 12-15 Reps x 5 Sets
Dumbbell Shoulder Press/Military Press 10-12 Reps x 5 Sets
Dumbbell Shrugs 15-20 Reps x 5 Sets
Dumbbell Tricep Extensions 10-12 Reps x 5 Sets
Dumbbell Alternating Curls 12-15 Reps x 5 Sets

Dumbell Lunges 12-15 Reps x 5 Sets

Dumbbell Bent Over Rows 12-15 Reps x 5 Sets

Dumbbell Deadlifts 12-15 Reps x 5 Sets

Okay, the best thing to do is do these everyday for the first 3 months and after that you can do this 3-5 times a week.

Why Dumbbells?
Dumbbells are great because for one thing, they’re cheap; another reason is they help isolate the muscle more than using a barbell.
You don’t have to go out and buy new dumbbells. Check craigslist for some and you’ll find a $10 pair.

How Much Weight Should I Use?
Use enough weight to where you can do at least 10 reps every set, perfect form. It would be smart to buy 2 or 3 sets of dumbbells at different weight because some exercises may require a lot of weight and some may require little weight.

Additional Information:
Now that you know what your workout is, there are still some things that you should keep in mind; one thing that you should do is find a workout partner. A workout partner will help you get the most out of your workout because they can push you whenever you’re struggling and you’ll become stronger with them around.
Now let’s talk about supplements. Any kind of supplement is good, but different supplements result in different results for each person taking it. So if people tell you to not take a certain type of supplement then that only mean that they didn’t get results so you could try it if you want. The most important thing about taking supplements is try different types. A lot of websites have cheap on-sale supplements that can work well for you. Another very important thing is to get plenty of rest. Getting rest will relax your muscles and they will get bigger.

I really hoped that this helped you and I wish you all the best on your journey to gaining muscle.
By the way, this is my first blog and I hope I wrote it well!! Thank You
